Camp & Class Notes & Descriptions

PreBallet Camps (for Pre-Schoolers thru entering 1st grade)

All PreBallet Camps are based on our regular school-year curriculum of developmentally appropriate movement, stretch, and coordination skills and activities.  Students are engaged in a variety of movement experiences that foster creativity, encourage positive group interactions and promote basic motor  skills such as galloping, skipping, hopping, and leaping.  Different daily themes provide a basis for movement activities and crafts.

General Daily Schedule - all PreBallet camps

·         Students will participate in a PreBallet class related to the day's theme - themes include 'Weather & Seasons', 'Carnival of Animals', 'The Great Story Ballets', and 'Lines, Shapes, and Squiggles'

·         Students take a short break for a studio-provided snack, use the restroom, etc.

·         Students will complete a craft or coloring activity related to the day's theme

·         Students in sessions for 5 & 6 yr. olds will participate in an introduction to tap as well

Dance Camps (for students entering 2nd grade and above)

Dance Time: This 1/2 day camp will include ballet, modern, and pre-jazz techniques, and even choreography (creating their own dance/movement).  Students will be exposed to dance history basics and have opportunities to view recorded professional performances.

Dance ALL DAY:   Just like it sounds...immerse yourself in all things dance, all day long.  Ballet,  jazz, modern, stretch, strengthen, choreography, history, viewing performances.  What could be better?!

Evening Classes

PreBallet:  Utilizes our school year curriculum of developmentally appropriate movement, stretch, and coordination skills and activities.  Students are engaged in a variety of movement experiences that foster creativity, encourage positive group interactions and promote basic motor  skills such as galloping, skipping, hopping, and leaping.  Different weekly themes provide a basis for creative movement activities within the structure of the class.

Introduction to Dance: Learn the basics of Ballet, Tap, and Modern dance.  A great introduction to a variety of movement styles for beginner students.  Four weeks of Ballet & Tap combo, two weeks of Modern.

Intermediate Ballet:  For students with at least three years of ballet training,  to maintain their skills over the summer.

Choreography & Rehearsal:  Students will learn and apply principles of choreography in creating their own movement phrases and dance pieces.  Students will also learn dance pieces suitable for performance during our school year season.
